We welcome the talented Hefin Duo, who we heard in our Chamber Music week. They have permitted us to share arrangements of two Welsh folk songs: The Ash Grove and Bugeilio’r Gwerith Gwyn
Against a backdrop of historic and breath taking views of the Ceiriog Valley, Bryn recites one of his favourite John Ceiriog’s poems: Mae Mynyddau Mawr (The Great Mountain Remain). It is about Welsh Tradition, and the heritage , the history of the area. In particular, the shepherds that tended their flocks - people might change but the valley and mountains stay the same.
John Ceiriog’s poem Aros Mae’r Mynyddau Mawr is set to the stirring interpretation by Welsh composer Meirion Williams. The piece is sung by Chirk born Baritone David Kempster.
Elan Catrin sings the stunning Robat Arwyn’s Afonaf Angel (Guardian Angel).
Morwen Blythin performs the popular Welsh Ballad Elen Fwyn.
Moreton Hall’s Aron Cook sings Pedair Oed by Ruthin based composer Robat Arwyn. Aron also runs Welsh Club for Moreton’s youngsters.
As part of the Moreton Hall Prep Summer Arts Festival, Gethin was placed first in the Welsh recitation class. Here is the winning performance of the poem Dwi’n Eisiau (I want to).
Moreton Hall’s Music Scholar, Tami returns to sing another song from her repertoire.
Sol Ffa: it is about a girl walking on a lovely, sunny morning through the woods looking at the lovely leaves, listening to the birds singing. She is singing her song which she has been trying to sing for a long time.
To conclude this evening’s performances we give you the 2020 Llangollen International Eisteddfod Global Peace Message; a specially commissioned poem.
Harmoni a Heddwch, (Your voice, my voice) by Mererid Hopwood, a Welsh poet, who in 2001 became the first woman ever to win the bardic Chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. Marerid’s words are set to the music by Edward-Rhys Parry. The Peace Message also features the talented Elan Catrin Parry as well as a peace message by Elisteddofd’s President Terry Waite.
